Scan the network

Permission Analyzer uses a database to display overviews. The database can be kept up-to-date using the scan function, and you can perform updates manually or automatically at set time intervals. Scanning can be carried out on each workstation in the network.

For scanning, you can enter the directories which need scanning and, if necessary, set a limit for the number of sub-directories. In this way, you only scan what is necessary and cut down the time required to search the overviews. Furthermore, you can indicate which sections should be scanned, and the status will continuously be reported during the scanning process.

The overviews

After scanning, you can examine the results in the analyses.
This part consists of four overviews:

  •    Access rights per user group
  •    Access rights per user
  •    User details
  •    Installed software

Access rights per user group

The first step in this overview is the selection of a user group. Then you can exclude directories and filter for access rights.

Filter on permissions

If everything has been set up to your requirements, you can load the overview. If you want to change the access rights to a certain folder, you can easily open the folder and make the changes with Windows.

View the permissions for each directory per user

Access rights per user

This overview functions for the most part in exactly the same way as the overview described above. In this overview, you can indicate whether you only want to show the rights of a particular user or also want to show the rights of the user groups that are related to a particular user. By only showing the user rights, you keep control over loose user rights and so prevent pollution of the network.

User details

This overview reproduces a list of all network users. It shows the last log-in time for each user, whether a user has been blocked and if a user's password never expires. With this overview you can prevent non-active user pollution of the system.

Installed software

In this section you can keep control over all software that is being installed on the workstations. During scanning, the Windows register of all workstations is searched to give you a reliable list for each workstation. You can filter using a specific workstation or application.

Updating service

Permission Analyzer has been equipped with an automatic updating service. If the software is upgraded with new functions or procedures, you will immediately receive these changes through the updating service.

Use the update service to check for the latest improvements

HTML Reports

With Permission Analyzer you can create your own HTML reports. Just filter the acess rights in the overview and click the button [Report]. Permission Analyzer uses a standard HTML template which you can edit yourself. You can find this template in the application directory, under the name "Permissions.html".
